What determines the cost of my car insurance policy?
There are a number of factors that determine the cost of your car insurance policy, besides your driving record. Here are a few: where you live, year, make and model of your vehicle, usage of your vehicle, type of coverage you desire, claims history and information of other drivers listed on the policy. Together they determine your base premium. Make sure to check which discounts you are eligible for.

We travel to the US every winter. Can we suspend coverage while our vehicle is not being used or operated?
Many of our clients are “snowbirds”, so we do our best to accommodate them. If you are travelling for at least 45 continuous days, we can suspend coverage for your vehicle with a simple endorsement for the duration of your travels. If your policy currently includes Comprehensive coverage, your vehicle will still be insured against fire, theft and vandalism. Upon returning from your trip please give us a call so we can reinstate coverage on your vehicle.

Home Insurance

How do you determine the rebuilding value to insure my home?
Your Grey Power broker will ask questions regarding size or square footage, type of home (detached, semi-detached, etc.), the materials used to build the home as well as any upgrades and updates. This information determines the rebuilding value of your home. Consequently, the amounts of coverage for your personal property, additional living expenses and detached private structures are calculated as a percentage of the rebuilding cost.

What is a deductible?
A deductible is the amount you agree to pay towards the cost of any single claim. For car insurance, the deductible amount, if any, is shown on your Certificate of Automobile Insurance. Depending on the type of claim, you may need to pay a deductible even if it was determined that you were not at fault in the accident.
